This is our kindness tree. When I catch students being kind to one another, I write about it and hang it on the tree. Thank you Victoria for hanging up a little surprise note to me :)

What did we do all week?

- We wrote about our long weekend. It was great to hear everyone's stories!
- Our trip to the Famous People Players went well. Thank you for your help, Mr. Karn!
- Thank you to our pizza lunch volunteers (Barbara's mom and Victoria's dad). We couldn't do it without you!!!
- Please sign up for one on one reading :)
- We had a successful Terry Fox Assembly. It was a pleasure meeting Terry's older brother, Fred. Students had an opportunity to watch Ms. Furczon participate in the tricycle race!

- Students visited the book fair with Ms. McGee. We talked about keeping our money in our backpacks and not sharing our money with anyone else.
- We have been practising our Spring drama skits in small groups.

- We have continued to talked about living and non living things and parts of a plant. We watched several Peep videos online. We love Peep!

Our plants are growing! Every week, one student is responsible for watering the plants.

News/Reminders:- Please return trip permission forms if you haven't done so.
- If you are available, please sign up online for one to one reading with the students.
- We are kindly asking for donations for our Springfest basket. Please speak to Samantha if you have any questions. The kids are already getting excited for the big day! We are also collecting tombolas which may include small toys or hard candies. The tombolas will be used as prizes at Springfest.
- I have been completing one on one reading assessments with the students and I am so impressed with everyone's progress :) The kids have been working so hard all year long!
- At the end of each day, I have been choosing a special person who has demonstrated perseverance, kindness and respect throughout the day. I choose someone who has been working hard or someone who has shown improvement. Students take turns complimenting that student and sharing what they like about them. This has been working so well and it's truly amazing to see their beautiful smiles :) In the end...who wouldn't want to be recognized for their efforts?
- We had an opportunity to meet Lorna Schultz Nicholson, author of the Pucker books! She was full of energy and even crawled around on the floor when explaining all her characters from the books.

What did we do all week? Just take a look!

Math: We practised addition and subtraction with various manipulative and tools.

We combined art and mathematics and learned about symmetrical and asymmetrical objects. We learned about the line of symmetry and created beautiful artwork. These lessons also tied into our fractions unit.

The shop continues to be a big hit in the classroom. Students now have to earn coins for free choice throughout the week. On Friday, everyone gets free play!

In Science, we have been discussing parts of a plant and the problem behind the bee decline. Students had an opportunity to examine a real bees nest.
