Reminders/News:
I have dropped off our cat food donations at the Toronto Cat Rescue Centre located near Lambton Kingsway. Thank you for those who donated and supported our little fundraiser. The woman working at the centre was almost in tears when she heard my story and saw the beautiful poster made by Barbara and Kara. She took down my contact information so that the director can contact me. I was told that she may even come by the school with a kitten or two! Fingers crossed!

- Please ensure that your child has indoor and outdoor shoes. The playground has been quite muddy lately and the students have been bringing in a lot of mud. Our caretaker has been working hard to keep our hallways clean and safe. Thank you for your understanding.
- The students did a fantastic job presenting their 100th day of school projects! The kids were so creative with their 100 objects and very excited to share :) Please remember how important it is for your child to learn to take responsibility for their own work. The final projects/products all looked great, however the process and the learning that took place was the most important part.
- Thank you to all the parents for reading with the students.
- Thank you for bringing in treats for our Valentine's Day. What a yummy afternoon!

What a busy, busy week! Take a look......
MONDAY:
- We dressed up as 100 year olds
- counted 100 treats
- built with 100 cups
- wrote 100 + MORE words
- built structures with 100 popsicle sticks and plasticine
- Ms. Furczon's grandmother taught the kids for 40 minutes...hopefully your child told you all about that wonderful experience! haha...

TUESDAY: We had a blast celebrating Valentine's Day in our class. The children gave out valentines, ate yummy treats and watched half of the movie called, Home (it's such a sweet movie!)
We also discussed what makes our heart full and happy. The children wrote what makes their heart full and drew pictures to go along with their writing.

Math: We have been learning to use various subtraction strategies. We have also been discussing 3D solids, the shapes found in solids and number of faces.

Science: Structures

Social Studies: We continue to learn about our local community. We discussed one of their wonderings which was: "Why do people move?" The students shared their own experiences and understandings. We also talked about natural and built features found in our community.

Writer's Workshop:
Ms. Furczon dumped all the unfinished stories. It was time to get organized!
