Ms. Hazlett's Grade 3/4 class taught us how to use sphero balls. The children used iPads to move their sphero balls in different directions and speed. It was a blast!

Mathematics:
We have finished our geometry unit on 2D shapes and 3D solids. For the next couple of weeks, we will be focusing on the one hundred chart. Last week, we looked for patterns in the chart and played a group game which involves skip counting by 2s. Here is a video that we watched in class. It's quite catchy. Ten More Game- The children took turns rolling the die and added 10 to the number of dots rolled.

Art: We sculpted clay pots with the leftover clay from Harbourfront.

Science: The children participated in two STEM activities.
First challenge: Build a strong bridge that can support as many plastic tiles as possible. The children were provided with two pieces of paper and two cups.
Second challenge: Build a strong bridge that can support two or more wooden blocks. The children were provided with ten straws and two cups. Eventually, they were allowed to use some tape. I absolutely loved watching everyone as they worked together in pairs. They collaborated, problem solved and had a lot of fun building their structures. Unfortunately I took photos with my camera and not my phone- this is why I haven't posted any photos. Oops!
Language: We have finished our mini unit on letter writing. Please ask your child about the 5 parts of a friendly letter. All your child's letters will be stapled and sent home shortly.
We continue to build our reading stamina while I meet with students and read in small groups. The children are choosing "just right" books and learning to relax and read quietly. Please ask your child about Bob (with stamina) and Joe (without stamina). Please continue to read with your child every night. Thank you for all your support!
